The year was 1833 and the place was New York City. It would be the birth of C.F. Martin & Company, quite possibly one the most influential acoustic guitar companies in history. Christian Frederick Martin brought his signature X bracing into mass production for the first time, giving Martin an edge in longevity and overall tone to their now coveted instruments. Making their home in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Martin continued to trail blaze the industry with some of the most famous acoustic guitar models ever: D-28, D-18 D-45 and so many more.
