Once the ASAT guitar was released in 1986, it didn’t take long for Leo Fender to apply this body shape to a bass model. The ASAT Bass is essentially the classic G&L L-2000 bass, a game-changing bass developed by Leo Fender in 1980, packed into a single-cut ASAT body shape, with a narrower 1 1/2″ nut width to help bring balance to the instrument. The result is a bass with all the power and flexibility of the L-2000 in an iconic body shape loved by bassists around the globe, including Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith who has played one since the ’90s and now has his own ASAT Bass Tom Hamilton signature model. With a pair of G&L Magnetic Field Design humbucker pickups and the G&L tri-tone active/passive electronic system, featuring a 3-way mini-toggle control for the active preamp with three settings: off, on and on with high frequency EQ boost, the ASAT Bass has plenty of sonic flexibility, making it ideal for just about any style of music from Rock, to R&B to Funk.
The ASAT Bass comes with the iconic single-cutaway ASAT body design in Alder on standard finishes and Swamp Ash on premier finishes with a rear contour for increased comfort and reduced instrument weight included. The electronics include two G&L Magnetic Field Design humbucker pickups with volume, treble and bass controls, G&L tri-tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector switch and 3-way mini-toggle control for preamp with three settings: off, on, and on with high frequency EQ boost, giving the ASAT Bass plenty of sonic flexibility. The hardware includes a Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock™ bridge and custom G&L "Ultra-Lite" tuners with aluminum tapered string posts, giving it excellent tuning stability. The neck is Hard Maple with a Medium C neck profile and a 9.5“ neck radius, making the ASAT Bass extremely solid while also being comfortable and easy to play.Pictured in Premier Natural Finish (NAT $150 upcharge).
ASAT® Bass Semi-Hollow ASTBT $1,849.99
The ASAT Semi-Hollow Bass comes with the same specs as the ASAT Bass but with voice chambers on both the left and right sides of the body with optional F-Holes if desired. The ASAT Semi-Hollow Bass comes in a Swamp Ash body on both Standard and Premier finishes and both are included in the price listed above.Pictured in Premier Honey Finish (HNY $150 upcharge).
ASAT® Bass Tom Hamilton Signature ASATBH $2,199.99
Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith has been playing the G&L ASAT Bass for over two decades because of its tone, and the way it performs both in live performances and in the recording studio. The Tom Hamilton Signature ASAT Bass comes in the iconic single-cutaway ASAT body design in lightweight Western Sugar Pine and is available in three finishes: Red, Blue and Turquoise Metal Flake with a silver double-faux binding. The electronics include two G&L ‘Hamiltone’ Magnetic Field Design humbucker pickups with volume, treble and bass controls, G&L tri-tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector switch and 3-way mini-toggle control for preamp with three settings: off-on-on with high frequency EQ boost. The neck comes in quarter-sawn Maple in a Medium C profile with a 12“ neck radius with a light tint satin finish, making the Tom Hamilton Signature ASAT Bass extremely comfortable and easy to play. All 3 finishes pictured above and below.

The key to the JB’s classic tone is its Alnico V pickup. Another classic G&L bass, the LB-100 is based on the P-style body shape and Alnico V pickup design pioneered by Leo Fender in 1950‘s and 60‘s. As the popularity of the P-style waned in the 90‘s, the LB-100 was discontinued but was recently brought back due to the popular demand of bassists like Garry Beers of INXS, who calls the LB-100 “...the best p-type bass I’ve ever played.” The latest version of the LB series p-style bass comes with an Alder body on Standard finishes and Swamp Ash on Premier finishes and features a comfortable Medium C profile neck with a 9.5“ neck profile and a 1 3/4“ nut width. Like the groundbreaking L-Series, the revolutionary M-Series basses feature powerhouse MFD humbucker pickups that are voiced to benefit from a studio quality 18v preamp system that has been specifically designed to harness and exploit the power Leo Fender’s MFD humbuckers have to offer without any loss of tone or volume. With a 3-band EQ, LF442 chip, 100v poly caps, 1% metal film resistors and big, fat signal traces on the mil-spec circuit board, the M-Series preamp reveals everything the instrument has to offer. When the SB-1 was introduced in 1982 it combined a familiar p-style shape and styling with innovative pickups and bridge designs. As it evolved, Leo Fender added the innovative G&L MFD split-coil pickup with the newly designed Saddle Lock bridge system and by 1985 the SB-1 and SB-2 models that we know today had taken their place in the landscape of hardworking passive pickup basses. Fender’s core innovations -- the MFD pickup and the saddle lock bridge -- set the stage for many of the improvements that G&L would introduce in the coming years, but nothing would change the hardworking reliability of the SB series basses.
The SB-1 features a classic double cut Alder body on Standard finishes and a Swamp Ash body on Premier finishes, with a Medium C profile neck with a 9.5” radius and a 1 ⅝” nut width making it lightweight with buttery smooth playability.
